Andrea Bores

Read about the designer

Andrea is an artist who observes. The body of her work focuses on exploring natural phenomena and their diffuse structures. The complexity of this task requires a habit of diverse techniques and procedures that enable the artist to interrogate the functioning of natural elements through the interaction of matter from different angles.

In Andrea’s works, there are pigments, dyes, textiles, threads… What manifests in her work is there, it belongs to the field of the materials’ memory; it doesn’t tell a personal story, nor does it present a narrative. It invites taking a risk into the unknown, where each coordinate on the canvas is the result of an exchange between the will of the matter and the artist as its conduit.

Thus, in Andrea Bores’ art, the unpredictable transforms into a system of growth and diminution of differences resulting from randomness and error. In each variation, in each impulse, the event changes and yields to the exchange of the materials’ memory and the laws of necessity that encompass their possibilities. What it offers us: diffuse firmaments and changing landscapes that, in the artist’s intention, respond to an extended temporality: “if we could face the landscape in a temporality of millennia, the horizon would not be a static line, it would be a turbulent horizon, which is in constant dynamism. And we would see the landscape in constant dynamism. There are no immovable mountains, there are mountains that are also fluids, that grow, that break like waves, we would see trees that migrate.”

The poetic resonance of these words situates us by analogy in the possibility of seeing ourselves on the temporal horizon as floating particles that flow dispersedly… and once again we find ourselves among pigments, dyes, textiles, threads…
